Renfe launches interactive map to track trains in real time

Content

Spanish rail company Renfe has expanded its digital services for passengers. It has launched an interactive map that allows passengers to track the location of trains in real time. The new service covers all major types of trains, from high-speed to local linear services.

How the new Renfe platform works

The Renfe interactive map allows you to see the exact position of each train on the map in real time. The service is available via a web browser at https://tiempo-real.renfe.com/ and does not require installing apps or visiting a train station.

The platform constantly updates data, so you always get up-to-date information about train movements. This means that the information appears instantly, and you don't have to wait or reload the page multiple times.

What exactly does the map show?

  • Train position on the map — you see where the train is right now in real time
  • Route and stops — the map shows the entire train route and all its scheduled stops
  • Estimated arrival time — you can find out when the train will arrive at the next station or your destination
  • Detailed information about the selected train — you can select a specific train or station and get extended data about its movement

What is it really useful for?

The new platform greatly simplifies trip planning and helps in many practical situations:

  • If you are waiting for someone — you can check exactly where your friend or relative's train is and find out when they will arrive at the station
  • If you are planning a meeting — it is easy to assess whether the train is on schedule or delayed
  • When changing trains — you can check whether you will be able to make the transfer if the first train is delayed
  • For time planning — knowing the exact location of the train, you can better plan your arrival time at the station

Renfe service expansion

Renfe had a similar tracking platform for local and suburban trains (Cercanías and Rodalies), but has now expanded this service to all major lines, including long-distance and high-speed trains. This makes the service much more versatile and useful for all categories of passengers.

This innovation has made rail travel in Spain even more convenient and predictable. If you frequently use Renfe services, it is worth adding this map to your browser bookmarks - it will really simplify your trip.
