In the digital age, where access to public services via the internet is becoming increasingly common, Spain has a system called Cl@ve PIN. It provides access to a wide range of online services provided by government agencies and other organizations. In this article, you will find out what Cl@ve PIN is, how to use it and how to register.

What is Cl@ve PIN?

Cl@ve PIN is a system for obtaining one-time passwords used to verify identity when accessing online government services in Spain. The PIN code is generated for each session and its validity is limited to a few minutes. The system ensures security and ease of use.

Types of services available through Cl@ve PIN

Cl@ve PIN allows you to access the following services:

  • Submission of documents: For example, tax returns, applications for social benefits, vehicle registration, etc.
  • Tax payment: Convenient and secure payment of taxes, fines or social contributions.
  • Medical services: Access to medical information, make an appointment with a doctor, and receive test results.
  • Educational services: Register for courses, receive certificates, apply for exams.
  • Electronic administration: Receiving government benefits, making changes to registration data, and much more.

Cl@ve PIN becomes an alternative to an electronic certificate (digital signature), providing convenience and security.

How to register and get a Cl@ve PIN?

  1. Download the Cl@ve PIN mobile app (available on the App Store and Google Play).
  2. Prepare the necessary documents:
    • NIE and Número de Soporte (your TIE plastic card number) or DNI for Spanish citizens.
  3. Complete the registration:
    • Enter your details and choose one of the identity verification options:
      • Video call during working hours.

How to use Cl@ve PIN?

Once registered, you can choose Cl@ve PIN as your authentication method on government portals. After entering your NIE or DNI, you will receive a one-time PIN in the mobile application, which you use to log in.

What is Cl@ve, and how is it different from Cl@ve PIN?

Cl@ve is a system for long-term identification of citizens. It includes two main access methods:

  1. Cl@ve Permanente (permanent password):
Used for regular and long-term access to government online services.
  2. Cl@ve PIN:
A one-time password that is generated for one-time transactions and has a limited validity period.
