Spanish school calendar 2025–2026 by autonomous community

For the 2025-2026 school year, the start and end dates, holidays and public holidays vary in each autonomous community in Spain. Below is a detailed overview by region, as well as a comparative table of holidays.

Andalusia (Andalucía)

• Beginning of the school year: September 10, 2025 – for preschools, primary schools and special education; September 15 – for secondary schools (ESO), high schools (baccalaureate) and vocational education.
• End of the school year: June 22, 2026 – official end of classes for most levels (preschool, elementary, and high school). (Note: some sports education institutions may continue training until July 31.)
• Winter (Christmas) holidays: with December 23, 2025 on January 6, 2026 including.
• Easter holidays: with March 30 on April 5, 2026 year inclusive.
• Summer vacation: begin after the end of classes on June 22, 2026 and continue until the start of the new academic year in September 2026.
• Holidays and non-working days: In addition to national holidays (including October 12 - Spain Day, November 1 - All Saints' Day, December 6 - Constitution Day, December 8 - Immaculate Conception, etc.), in Andalusia, schoolchildren will have a day off on February 28 (Andalusia Day). Also declared as regional calendar holidays are: November 3, 2025 (resumed after All Saints' Day) and January 7, 2026 (additional day off after the Epiphany), and March 2, 2026 will be celebrated as Educational Community Day.

Aragon

• Beginning of the school year: September 8, 2025 – for preschool, primary, special and secondary education; September 10 – for bachelor's degrees; September 11 – for full-time vocational education.
• End of the school year: June 19, 2026 – completion of classes for all levels of education.
• Winter holidays: with December 19, 2025 on January 6, 2026 year inclusive.
• Easter holidays: with March 30 on April 6, 2026 year inclusive.
• Summer vacation: from June 19, 2026 to September 2026 (after completion of studies on June 19, 2026).
• Holidays and non-working days: Schools in Aragon are closed on the regional holiday of April 23 (Aragonese Day, Saint George's Day), as well as on national holidays. In addition, the school calendar may include local holidays (determined by municipalities) and pedagogical council days, which are announced by the Aragonese government.

Asturias (Principado de Asturias)

• Beginning of the school year: September 9, 2025 – for elementary, secondary and undergraduate schools; September 15 – for vocational education institutions. (Kindergarten classes (0–3 years) may continue until the end of July.)
• End of the school year: June 19, 2026 - end of classes in most schools and lyceums.
• Winter holidays: with December 22, 2025 on January 7, 2026 year inclusive.
• Easter holidays: with March 30 on April 5, 2026 year inclusive.
• Summer vacation: from June 19, 2026 to September 2026.
• Holidays and additional non-working days: except for national holidays, schools in Asturias will be closed September 8, 2025 (Asturias Day). A week-long break for Carnival (the so-called “white week”) is also planned with February 13 to 17, 2026In addition, it is provided "May Bridge" – holiday from May 1 to 4, 2026 (including Labor Day on May 1).

Balearic Islands (Islas Baleares)

• Beginning of the school year: September 10, 2025 - for preschoolers, students of primary, special, secondary schools and 1st year of bachelor's degree; September 15 - for 2nd year of bachelor's degree and vocational education programs (vocational education programs); September 19 - start of classes in vocational education institutions (secondary specialized education levels).
• End of the school year: June 19, 2026 – for preschool, elementary, high school, 1st year of bachelor's degree and most professional education programs. Other courses end earlier: for example, graduating classes of some specialties graduate between May 22 and June 12, 2026, depending on the program.
• Winter holidays: with December 22, 2025 on January 6, 2026 year inclusive.
• Easter holidays: with April 2 to 12, 2026 year inclusive.
• Summer vacation: from June 19, 2026 (after completion of classes) to September 2026.
• Holidays and non-working days: In addition to national holidays, the Balearic Islands celebrate a regional holiday March 1 (Balearic Islands Day). In 2026, March 1 falls on a day off, so February 27, 2026 is designated as a combined school day off to celebrate the holiday. Schools may also independently designate up to four additional days off during the year, coordinating them evenly across trimesters.

Canary Islands (Islas Canarias)

• Beginning of the school year: September 9, 2025 – for kindergarten, elementary school, high school, and undergraduate students; September 15–22 – start of classes for other programs (vocational education, specialized courses) depending on the field of study.
• End of the school year: June 19, 2026 is the last day of school for most students (kindergarten, elementary, high school, 1st year of undergraduate studies). The graduating classes of undergraduate studies finish their studies earlier - May 15, 2026 (for exam preparation). Other programs (vocational education, adults, language courses) will end between the end of May and June 19.
• Winter holidays: with December 22, 2025 on January 7, 2026 year inclusive.
• Easter holidays: with March 30 on April 6, 2026 year inclusive.
• Summer vacation: from June 19, 2026 to September 2026 (for students graduating on June 19).
• Holidays and non-working days: The Canary Islands academic calendar includes September 1, 2025 as a general day without classes for teachersAlso, individual islands have their own holidays: e.g., September 15 – holiday on the islands of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, September 19 – in Fuerteventura, October 6 – on La Gomera. Each educational institution can choose 4 days a year for additional local weekends in agreement with the authorities, plus 2 local public holidays are added in each municipality. In addition, a regional holiday Canary Islands Day (May 30) falls on a Saturday in 2026, so it does not affect school days.

Cantabria

• Beginning of the school year: September 8, 2025 – for preschool, primary, special education, as well as for high school, bachelor's and professional colleges; studies in art, music and dance schools will begin on September 16–17; sports schools – September 19; language schools – October 7, 2025.
• End of the school year: June 23, 2026 is the last day of classes for most students (Infantil, Primaria, ESO, Bachillerato, etc.). Special programs will end somewhat earlier: May 28 – in foreign language schools, May 29 – in music and dance schools.
• Winter holidays: with December 22, 2025 on January 7, 2026 year inclusive.
• Easter holidays: with March 30 on April 6, 2026 year inclusive.
• Summer vacation: from June 23, 2026 to early September 2026.
• Holidays and additional non-working days: In addition to national holidays, Cantabria traditionally introduces additional holidays in autumn and winter. In particular, October 27–31, 2025 announced "autumn holidays" (week of rest at the end of October-November). Also provided "white weeks" in honor of Carnival: February 23–27, 2026 Schools will be closed. These periods are added to official holidays (November 1, December 6 and 8, etc.) in the region's academic calendar.

Castilla-La Mancha

• Beginning of the school year: September 8, 2025 – for all levels (kindergarten, elementary, high school, bachelor's, professional education).
• End of the school year: June 17, 2026 – completion of classes for all levels of education.
• Winter holidays: with December 22, 2025 on January 7, 2026 year inclusive.
• Easter holidays: with March 30 on April 6, 2026 year inclusive.
• Summer vacation: from June 17, 2026 to September 2026.
• Holidays and non-working days: In addition to public holidays, students in Castilla-La Mancha will have a day off on regional holidays – May 31, 2026 (Castile-La Mancha Day) and June 4, 2026 (Feast of Corpus Christi). Additionally scheduled non-working days: January 7, 2026 (after Christmas holidays), November 14, 2025 (Education Day, teachers' professional holiday) and days "carnival vacation" February 16 and 17, 2026 (two weekends for Maslenitsa).

Castilla and León (Castilla y León)

• Beginning of the school year: September 8, 2025 – for preschool, primary, special education and secondary school (ESO); students in bachelor's degrees, vocational education (day and evening), higher art schools, language courses, adult education and sports programs will begin classes between September 15 and 22, 2025 depending on the program.
• End of the school year: for most students, classes will end June 24, 2026 (for preschoolers, primary school, ESO, adult courses, music and choreography schools). Graduates of the 2nd year of the bachelor's degree and some special programs will complete their studies earlier - May 22, 2026, and language schools – May 29, 2026.
• Winter holidays: with December 22, 2025 on January 7, 2026 year inclusive.
• Easter holidays: with March 27 on April 6, 2026 year inclusive. (In Castile and Leon, the Easter holidays will begin a little earlier, on Friday, March 27.)
• Summer vacation: from June 24, 2026 (after completion of classes) to September 2026.
• Holidays and non-working days: In addition to national holidays, the region celebrates April 23 – Castile and Leon Day (Autonomous Community Day, which coincides with St. George's Day). In 2026, April 23 falls on a Thursday, so it is Friday. April 24, 2026 also declared a day off, forming a long holiday weekend. Maslenitsa vacation continues February 16–17, 2026, and October 31, 2025 is celebrated Teacher's Day (the day off before All Saints' Day).

Catalonia (Catalunya)

• Beginning of the school year: September 8, 2025 – for primary and lower secondary school (ESO) students, as well as for kindergartens; September 12 – for high school (1–2 years of bachelor's degree) and vocational training programs. Other educational programs will start no later than September 15 or 22 (higher art schools, sports schools, schools for adults, etc.).
• End of the school year: June 19, 2026 is the last day of classes for most students (kindergartens 3-6 years old, primary school, ESO, 1st year of bachelor's degree and basic vocational education programs). Final exams for 2nd year of bachelor's degree end by June 12, 2026 (classes for graduates end earlier due to exam preparation).
• Winter holidays: with December 20, 2025 on January 7, 2026 year inclusive.
• Easter holidays: with March 28 on April 6, 2026 year inclusive.
• Summer vacation: from June 19, 2026 to the beginning of September 2026 (the first school day of 2026–2027 in Catalonia usually falls on the second week of September).
• Holidays and non-working days: All schools in Catalonia are closed. September 11, 2025 – on Catalonia Day (the region's national holiday). Classes are also not held on national holidays, in particular October 12, November 1, December 6 and 8, May 1, etc. Schools have the right to establish up to 4 additional days of rest during the year (by decision of the pedagogical council and in agreement with educational authorities) provided that they are evenly distributed between trimesters.

Ceuta

• Beginning of the school year: September 8, 2025 - in kindergartens, primary schools, special and secondary education centers and lyceums; September 10 - in vocational schools, language schools and art schools; September 24 - the start of classes in adult education centers.
• End of the school year: June 22, 2026 is the official last day of classes for all levels. In June (after June 1) and September (until September 30), a shortened school day (classes only in the morning) may be implemented for primary school and kindergarten students in Ceuta.
• Winter holidays: with December 20, 2025 on January 7, 2026 year inclusive.
• Easter holidays: with March 30 on April 1, 2026 year inclusive. (This is a shorter Easter holiday period, as Ceuta takes into account other religious holidays in the spring.)
• Summer vacation: from June 22, 2026 to September 2026.
• Holidays and non-working days: In the city of Ceuta, schools, in addition to national holidays, also observe local religious holidays of the Muslim community. In particular, March 20, 2026 (Friday) has been declared a holiday to mark the end of the month of Ramadan. May 25 and 26, 2026 (Monday-Tuesday) – non-working days on the occasion of the Feast of Sacrifice Eid al-AdhaIn March 2026, due to the coincidence of the end of Ramadan with the week before Easter, schools will have an additional weekend with March 20 to 27, 2026 (week break). Also, September 2 (Ceuta Day) is traditionally a public holiday in the city.

Valencian Autonomous Community (Comunidad Valenciana)

• Beginning of the school year: September 8, 2025 – Return to school for students in preschool, primary school, secondary school (ESO), baccalaureate and vocational education. (Some special-type vocational programs start on September 10 or 15, according to the study plan.) Adult education programs will start on September 15, and courses in art and language schools will start between September 15 and 25, 2025.
• End of the school year: June 19, 2026 is the last day of classes in kindergartens, elementary schools, secondary schools, lyceums, and most vocational schools. Adult courses and art schools will end a little earlier - June 12, 2026, but in state foreign language schools, studies will continue until June 19.
• Winter holidays: with December 23, 2025 on January 6, 2026 year inclusive.
• Easter holidays (in the region - Easter holidays): with April 2 to 13, 2026 year inclusive. (Return to classes is April 14, 2026, as the break will last until Monday, April 13, inclusive.)
• Summer vacation: from June 19, 2026 to September 2026.
• Holidays and non-working days: The following holiday dates are officially designated for the academic year: October 9, 2025 – Valencian Community Day (in honor of the anniversary of autonomy), March 19, 2026 – the feast of Saint Joseph (this day marks the culmination of the Fallas festival). Also, as in all of Spain, schools are closed on December 6 (Constitution Day), December 8 (Immaculate Conception) and May 1 (Labor Day). Note: Some municipalities may establish additional local holidays in agreement with the city government.

Extremadura

• Beginning of the school year: September 11, 2025 – in kindergartens, primary and secondary schools (ESO); September 12 – the beginning of classes in the 1st year of undergraduate studies; May 8, 2026 – completion of classes in the final (2nd) years of undergraduate studies (due to early final exams).
• End of the school year: June 19, 2026 - completion of classes for most students (Infantil, Primaria, ESO); June 18 - for 1st year bachelor's degrees; June 12 - completion of classes in professional colleges; May 8 - for bachelor's graduates (2nd year).
• Winter holidays: with December 22, 2025 on January 7, 2026 year inclusive.
• Easter holidays: with March 30 on April 6, 2026 year inclusive.
• Summer vacation: from June 19, 2026 (after completion of main classes) to September 2026.
• Holidays and non-working days: September 8, 2025 (Extremadura Day) falls on the beginning of the school year, so this day has been declared a holiday in the region. Also closed will be November 27 and 28, 2025 – Teacher's Day and the Friday after it. Two weekends are planned for Maslenitsa: February 16 and 17, 2026 (Carnival days). All national holidays (12.10, 1.11, 6.12, 8.12, 1.05, etc.) are also non-working days for schools in Extremadura.

Galicia

• Beginning of the school year: September 8, 2025 – Students at all levels (preschool, elementary, high school, undergraduate) begin school on this day.
• End of the school year: June 19, 2026 is the last day of classes at most schools (2nd year undergraduates may graduate a little earlier, depending on the university entrance exam schedule). Students in the final years of vocational colleges (FP) graduate on June 15, 2026.
• Winter holidays: with December 22, 2025 on January 7, 2026 year inclusive.
• Easter holidays (Carnival and Easter): Galicia has a tradition of carnival weekends – February 16, 17 and 18, 2026. (Monday-Tuesday-Wednesday of Shrove Tuesday) are declared non-working days for schools. Easter holidays will last from March 30 on April 6, 2026 year inclusive.
• Summer vacation: from June 19, 2026 to September 2026.
• Holidays and non-working days: except for public holidays, in Galicia October 31, 2025 is noted Teaching Day (Education Day) – an additional day off for schools on the eve of All Saints' Day. November 3, 2025 (Monday after All Saints' Day) has also been declared a non-working day for educational institutions. Local (municipal) holidays will also be added to the calendar depending on the city/village.

La Rioja

• Beginning of the school year: September 9, 2025 – the start of classes for all students enrolled in state kindergartens, schools and vocational centers (preschool, primary, secondary, bachelor's and vocational training). Adult education starts on September 15, and classes in art schools, language schools and some distance learning vocational programs start on September 29, 2025.
• End of the school year: June 22, 2026 is the last day of classes in schools and lyceums for students of basic programs.
• Winter holidays: with December 22, 2025 on January 7, 2026 year inclusive.
• Easter holidays: with March 30 on April 6, 2026 year inclusive.
• Summer vacation: from June 22, 2026 to September 2026.
• Holidays and non-working days: The La Rioja school calendar includes regional holidays: June 9, 2026 – La Rioja Day (official autonomy holiday) and June 8, 2026 – an additional day off on the eve of this day. Also provided for non-working days February 27, 2026 – Educational Community Day (school community holiday). Schools are also closed on national holidays (for example, November 1, December 6 and 8, May 1).

Madrid (Comunidad de Madrid)

• Beginning of the school year: September 8, 2025 - the start of classes in kindergartens (2nd cycle), primary schools and special educational institutions; September 9 - in secondary schools (ESO), lyceums (baccalaureate) and vocational education centers. Students in art conservatories, language schools and art schools will begin their studies on September 10-19 (depending on the type of institution).
• End of the school year: June 19, 2026 - end of classes for basic levels of education (primary, secondary, bachelor's, etc.). Preschools (nurseries, centers 0-3 years) will continue to operate until July 31, 2026, and language schools - until June 25, 2026.
• Winter holidays: with December 22, 2025 on January 7, 2026 year inclusive.
• Easter holidays: with March 27 on April 6, 2026 year inclusive (training will resume on April 7).
• Summer vacation: from June 19, 2026 (after the end of classes) until the beginning of September 2026.
• Holidays and non-working days: In addition to national holidays, the following days without classes are officially established in the Community of Madrid: October 13, 2025 (Monday after Spain Day 12/10) and November 3, 2025 (Monday after All Saints' Day). After the New Year and Christmas period January 7, 2026 declared a day off (after the feast of the Epiphany). And on Easter, in addition to the holidays, April 6, 2026 (the Monday after Easter) will also be a non-working day for Madrid schools. Note: The city of Madrid additionally celebrates local holidays on November 9 (Almudena Day) and May 15 (St. Isidro Day), when the city's schools are also closed.

Melilla

• Beginning of the school year: September 9, 2025 – for students of kindergartens, primary schools, secondary schools (ESO), basic vocational and technical programs and lyceums (bachelor's degree); September 15 – start of classes for students of secondary and higher courses of vocational schools and schools of fine arts; September 24 – start of studies in foreign language schools, conservatories and adult education centers.
• End of the school year: June 19, 2026 - end of classes for students of basic levels; administrative closure of the school year and final events will last until June 30, 2026.
• Winter holidays: with December 22, 2025 on January 7, 2026 year inclusive.
• Easter holidays: with March 30 on April 5, 2026 year inclusive.
• Summer vacation: from June 19, 2026 to September 2026.
• Holidays and non-working days: in Melilla are included in the academic year calendar as non-working days September 17, 2025 (Melilla Day, the autonomous city's holiday), as well as important Islamic holidays celebrated by a significant portion of the residents: March 20, 2026 – end of Ramadan (Eid al-Fitr), and May 26, 2026 – Muslim holiday of sacrifice Eid al-AdhaThese dates are declared holidays for all educational institutions in the city. National holidays (12.10, 1.11, 6.12, 8.12, 1.05, etc.) are also non-working days.

Murcia (Region of Murcia)

• Beginning of the school year: September 8, 2025 – for preschool, primary and special education; September 11 – for secondary school (ESO) and baccalaureate; September 15 – for vocational education programs (Formación Profesional cycles).
• End of the school year: June 22, 2026 is the last day of classes for elementary, middle school, and undergraduate (1st year) students. July 15, 2026 – completion of the educational cycle for children 0–3 years old in nurseries and kindergartens (the first cycle of preschool education, which lasts longer). Students of the final grades of vocational schools in some specialties may complete their studies earlier, in June, depending on the internship schedule.
• Winter holidays: with December 24, 2025 on January 6, 2026 year inclusive. (It is worth noting that in Murcia, the Christmas holidays start later - on Christmas Eve.)
• Easter holidays: with March 30 on April 6, 2026 year inclusive.
• Summer vacation: from June 22, 2026 (for most students) to September 2026.
• Holidays and non-working days: except public holidays, in the region of Murcia June 9, 2026 Murcia Day (Autonomy Day) is celebrated. In this regard, Monday June 8, 2026 is designated as an additional non-working day for educational institutions, forming a long weekend. The school calendar also provides for a day off December 23, 2025 (Tuesday before Catholic Christmas Eve) as an additional day of rest before Christmas.

Navarra (Comunidad Foral de Navarra)

• Beginning of the school year: between September 5 and 9, 2025 – depending on the level: children in preschool, primary and special schools begin their studies between September 5 and 8, high school and undergraduate students – on September 4, students in vocational and technical programs – between September 4 and 9 (depending on the program and course). (For example, middle school started on September 4, and elementary school started on September 5, 2025.)
• End of the school year: between June 17 and 19, 2026 – depending on the level: younger schoolchildren (preschool and primary) will finish classes between June 17 and 19, students in high school, bachelor's and professional programs – June 17, 2026. Adult education programs continue until June 30.
• Winter holidays: with December 22, 2025 on January 7, 2026 year inclusive.
• Easter holidays: with April 2 to 12, 2026 year inclusive.
• Summer vacation: from June 17–19, 2026 (after the end of classes) until early September 2026.
• Holidays and non-working days: the main regional festival of Navarra – December 3, 2025 (Navarra Day, in honor of St. Francis Xavier) – falls on a Thursday and is included in the school calendar as a day off. Other dates are determined by the official labor calendar of Navarre: as a rule, these are October 12, November 1, December 6 and 8, May 1, as well as local holidays of individual cities and communities. Additional days off may be agreed by the school at the discretion of the education authorities.

Basque Country (País Vasco / Euskadi)

• Beginning of the school year: September 5, 2025 is the first day of school for most schools for preschool, elementary, middle, and high school. The school year for these levels will officially run until June 2026 (see below). Vocational colleges could start a little earlier in 2025, but no earlier than September 3, 2025, according to the new rules (for the implementation of the dual education system).
• End of the school year: June 19, 2026 is the official end date for most schools in the Basque Country. First-year baccalaureate students graduate a little earlier on May 29, 2026, and second-year baccalaureate graduates on May 15, 2026 (after which they undergo intensive preparation for the entrance exams).
• Winter holidays: with December 24, 2025 on January 6, 2026 year inclusive
• Easter holidays: with April 2 to 6, 2026 year inclusive
• Summer vacation: from June 19, 2026 to September 2026 (students after June 19 go on summer vacation until the start of the new school year).
• Holidays and non-working days: The academic calendar in the Basque Country also includes carnival holidays – a week's break from February 12 to 18, 2026 (from Fat Thursday to Ash Wednesday). This break is partly called "White Week" (White Week) – from Monday 16.02 to Friday 20.02 schools are closed, and school boards can extend this holiday at their discretion. Official holidays of the autonomy are determined by government decree: in 2025 these are, in particular, January 1 and 6, April 17 and 18 (Maundy Thursday and Good Friday), July 25 (St. James), August 15, and in 2026 – March 19 (Saint Joseph's Day), October 12 (Spain Day), December 8 (Immaculate Conception), etc. Local holidays of the three Basque capitals are also added to the calendar (for example, January 20 – Donostia Day in San Sebastian, August 5 – White Virgin Day in Vitoria, August 22 – Aste Nagusia in Bilbao). Notes: In most regions, the winter holidays last until around Epiphany (6 January) or a day or two after, while the Easter holidays cover Holy Week and Easter. Some communities have longer spring breaks (such as Valencia and Navarre, which last until the second Sunday in April), while others have shorter ones (such as Ceuta, which takes into account other holidays).
