The Barcelona municipal government has announced the preliminary calendar for enrolling students in public schools for the 2026-2027 school year. Parents should pay attention to the specific dates for each level of education, as the deadlines for submitting documents vary significantly.
This information applies to all parents who plan to enroll their children — regardless of whether they are new to the school or transferring their sons and daughters from other educational institutions.
Preschool education
For toddlers, there are two cycles of preschool education with different terms:
- First cycle (nursery) — entry from May 8 to 22, 2026. The municipality may set alternative dates, so it is worth following the updates on the official website.
- Second cycle of preschool education and primary school — recording period from March 4 to 18, 2026.
Secondary education
For senior school-age students, there are two stages:
- Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO) — registration from March 6 to 18, 2026. During this period, registration for centers with integrated music and dance training also takes place.
- High School (Batxillerat) — application period from April 9 to 16, 2026, including centers with integrated arts programs.
Professional and specialized education
For individuals who want to obtain a specialty or develop artistic skills, it is important to know the following dates:
- Professional music or dance — March 18–27, 2026
- Higher art education — dates are set by each institution separately (published by March 13)
- Performing arts — April 7 – June 26, 2026
- Sports education — April 27 – May 6 and May 26 – June 1, 2026
Professional Training (FP)
Different vocational training programs have their own enrollment schedules:
- PFI and FP baseline — May 4–13, 2026
- Special educational routes (IFE) — May 11–22, 2026
- Intermediate and higher level FP, art cycles — May 26 – June 1, 2026
- Specialization courses — June 25 – July 3, 2026
Adult education and languages
Adults can enroll in adult education centers from June 19 to 29, 2026. Exact dates for language learning centers (EOI) and other programs will be announced separately.
